According to a reliable source, the PS5's premium controller, the DualSense Edge, as well as the Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore wireless headphones, will reportedly come in black. Sadly, images were not forthcoming; you'll just have to use your imagination with the above base DualSense Edge as a visual prompt. These edgier, but undeniably (probably) more stylish SKUs are expected to be announced within the month and could potentially prove a great Christmas present for the hardcore PlayStation fan in your life.
Word comes to us via our French connection, Dealabs, where the ever-watchful investigator billbil-kun revealed the news, learning from their sources that additional accessories are on the way. Our well-connected friend is confident enough to say these SKUs will be priced the same as the standard white set.
- DualSense Edge Wireless Controller – Black : €239.99 / GBP209.99 / USD199.99.
- Pulse Elite Wireless Headphones – Black : €149.99 / GBP 129.99 / USD 149.99.
- Pulse Explore Wireless Earbuds – Black : €219.99 / GBP 199.99 / USD 199.99.
Tangentially related, billbil-kun said they had heard rumblings about an imminent PlayStation event (perhaps coinciding with PlayStation's 30th Anniversary). However, the insider notes that fellow leakster, the equally reliable journalist Jeff Grub, hasn't heard of anything happening, so make of that what you will.
Will you trade in that childish white DualSense Edge for an adult variant? Do you feel the pressure building towards something from Sony before the year is through? Let us know in the comments section below.

I would like a more affordable controller option that has a more honest feature set. I love the haptics and gyro, but they're rarely used anyway. There's barely any third party controller support.
I'd much rather they fix the disconnecting issues with the Elite headset. The only way to fix this is to unplug the dongle and plug it back in. This also happens with the earbuds.
Years of making headsets for PS without issue and they try to re-invent the wheel with this one, slap "premium" on it and it's the most unreliable yet.
@BiosNova Yeah that really surprised the first time it happened. I don't like how often it can happen. Never had a problem with the PS headsets before.
@Orpheus79V @BiosNova
Don’t know if you’ve tried this already but if you buy a usb c to a connector and plug it into the front usb c port on the PS5 then plug the PS Link into there, I’ve had not one disconnect with the Elite since back in April when I first did this little trick!
All well and good but how about a price cut on the existing dualsense? I have two which have developed stick drift, one making anything using the right stick unplayable now.
Dual Sense edge is a terrible buy. The quality is worse than the standard controller that’s 75% cheaper. I bought one in Jan 2023 but started having multiple hardware issues by about April 2024 including stick issues (not drift, but worse), battery issues (goes dead even when plugged in), and build issues (rubber grips for your hands are warping/peeling).
Why buy a $200 Edge when you can buy a superior model for $55 on sale? Aka the base model
Unrelated but thought some of you might liem this 🤣 playstation train seats 😂https://www.standard.co.uk/news/transport/ps5-pro-playstation-london-underground-tube-victoria-line-carriage-b1196189.html
@wilky2988 And the sample size of "my controller" doesn't mean squat.
@MrPeanutbutterz A quick Google/reddit search suggests that all three of my issues are not unique to “my controller” but you do what you will with your $200. I’ve gotten better lifespan out of the far cheaper base models, and will continue to use them. It’s just disappointing when you pay 3-4x as much for a “deluxe” product, but the build quality is inferior to the default.
Dammit. Black is crap cn’t see the damn buttons I’m going nuts for a 30th Ed Explore to go with the DS and Portal
A price reduction would be far preferable. I got one and it's nowhere near worth the asking price but I was fed up of replacing controllers after going through 2 dual sense in around 3 years
It's interesting that Push Square doesn't seem interested to mention the almost-continuous unavailability of the replacement stick modules for DualSense Edge. There are Reddit threads where people report their controllers being unusable due to stick drift and other issues and yet being unable to replace their stick modules because they're perpetually out ot stock, save for paying scalpers.
Ooooh! I am still on the fence about getting a DualSense Edge. I am not sure I need the extra buttons.
Also, I have to see the Helldivers 2 controller and need absolute confirmation no more 30th anniversary controllers are on the way.
@wilky2988 if you tried the edge for 3 months you can say if its worth it or not.
I said its very expensive until i tried it for my self and it worth every penny.
@BiosNova Same here. Had issues with the jack connection on the DS, bought the best possible option for the PS5 (or so I thought). So frustrating.
@RockStarDougal I'm investing in Hall Effect analogs. Hopefully, never have drift issues again.
@wilky2988 And a quick Google of "expected failure rates for electronic devices" will confirm that yes, your own anecdotal experience means squat (in terms of statistics, not to yourself, obviously).
